Thai Kobelco Construction Machinery opens excavator plant in Thailand
Provides Kobelco with production bases in Japan, China and Thailand

Kobelco Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. held an opening ceremony for its new hydraulic excavator plant on July 2 in Thailand. Construction of the facility began in August 2007.

Approximately 325 people attended the ceremony, including business partners and the financial community. From Kobelco, President Shigeto Kotani participated in the event.

In 1996, Kobelco set up Thai Kobelco Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. as a wholly owned subsidiary. Over the past 12 years, Thai Kobelco Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. has made welded steel structural components for excavators in Rayong Province, Thailand, for supply to Kobelco's various marketing bases in Southeast Asia.

In addition to the parts factory, Thai Kobelco Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. has now completed a new integrated plant for the manufacture of hydraulic excavators. Production began in April, and the first finished machine has been delivered.

For Kobelco, the new finished machine plant is positioned as a core facility for Southeast Asia. Utilizing the plant's coastal location, Kobelco can now supply excavators throughout Southeast Asia, boosting Kobelco's presence in the region.
