Kobelco and CNH Global provide aid to areas hit by Indian Ocean tsunami

We extend our sincere sympathy to the victims of the Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami that struck on December 26, 2004.

Late last year, Kobelco Construction Machinery Co., Ltd., through its subsidiary in Singapore, provided relief goods to areas in the region devastated by the Indian Ocean tsunami.

Kobelco and its global alliance partner, CNH Global N.V., have pledged 100 million yen (about 1 million in US dollars) worth of aid to the disaster-stricken areas. This aid includes the supply of relief goods and construction equipment with operators and engineers at no cost to the disaster-stricken areas.

Details of the assistance will be decided after careful consideration of local needs. Kobelco and CNH hope that the disaster areas will recover from the damage soon.
